:: buddies talk ::

"Mates, as we pass through life that somehow face hardship and determination, we often look at people and materialistic things around us. We often tend to look at people above us and desire to be like them. What I mean is that, materiality. Thus, our religion advises to look at those below us and feel contempt at what are provided or given.

Okay, for example: We have a good car that meets our needs, but we always want a nicer, more expensive one-an Audi or a Lamborghini perhaps. Then, we have a nice, comfortable house but we always want a bigger, fancier, more expensive one than others. For women, they would think of more jewelry, fancier clothes, and expensive shoes. The list goes on and they will not stop and the same thing goes to men- hotter girlfriends, big motorcycles, brand new t’s and etc. We always think about more rather than saying, "Alhamdulillah," for what we already have.

Wait! Dont you ever think that,"The world is like water of the sea, the man who is thirsty, the more he drinks water of it the more he becomes thirsty, until the water kills him in the end (osmosis)!". This saying is from Khalifah Umar al-Khattab r.a. and it’s true.

A kind rule for controlling contentment is to always look at the people who have less than us, not the ones who have more. Simple to make you realize. In Malaysia, for example. Most all advertisings are geared toward showing us people who have more than us and enticing us to want it. They show us beautiful cars, beautiful dresses, new electronic gadgets, hot models and so on. And we can get them all with our scholarship fund, savings or even PTPTN loan. If our lives don't match the advertisements, we shouldn’t change. Just stay whoever you are now.

Then, many of us have hung down into this trap. Many drive expensive cars far beyond their needs, not just for dependability, but for prestige or to make people say, "Wow!" These people have been deceived, duped by the multi billion ringgit advertising industry - the chief enemy of contentment, the chief advocate of a lifestyle of constant wanting. And at the end, you know it I believe.They want everything they see, and they expect to get ‘em now! But how can we turn them to be content, if we are not content ourselves? Instead of wanting everything we see, we need to learn to resist. Instead of letting our mates have everything they want, we need to teach them to be thankful for what they have. We tend to forget that happiness doesn't come as a result of getting something we don't have, but rather of recognizing and appreciating what we do have.

Many people have the material goods of the world and are not happy. In fact, they are often the most miserable people. With everything they have, they still feel they want more and more and moreeeeeeeeeeeeee. This such starving-desire in their heart for more, makes them unhappy and misery. Those who have little but feel no need for more do not experience this nagging in their heart. They can relax and find peace. Indeed, the richest person is not the one who has the most, but the one who is content with what he has.", quoted from one of my best buddies.

doesn't matter if you have power to control all thing, you have money to buy everything and you own a expensive car instead of motorcycle, at the end of the day,you know that everything that we have is just a temporary...

we started from nothing and gain with something....alhamdulillah, praise to Allah SWT for what He give....
